More Than a Uniform: Why We Created the Secret Basement T-Shirt
When we started thinking about the Secret Basement Gelato T-shirt, we didn't want to create another staff uniform.
We wanted to create something people would actually want to wear.
Something cool.
Something that, when one of our team members walks out of the shop, people notice and think:
"That's a cool T-shirt. What brand is that?"
And then they see it.

Because that's what we want our brand to feel like.
We Don't Want Our Team to Just Wear a Uniform
At Secret Basement Gelato, we want the people who work with us to feel proud of where they work.
A T-shirt might seem like a small thing. But we believe the things people wear can say something about how they feel.
We didn't want to give our team a generic uniform with a logo printed on it.
We wanted to create a T-shirt that feels like a piece of the brand.
Something our team would wear even when they're not working.
Something that represents being part of Secret Basement.
Because when you wear something with pride, people notice.
And hopefully, when someone sees our team wearing this T-shirt, they don't just see someone working at a gelato shop.
They see a brand with personality.
The Idea: The Cold Side of Life
Gelato is cold.
But Secret Basement has never been just about gelato.
We wanted to create a world around the brand — something with personality, attitude and a little bit of rebellion.

Then came the skull.
We wanted something memorable.
Something a little unexpected.
And honestly, something that made us smile.
So we created a skull eating gelato.
The idea behind it?
Our gelato should be good enough that even the dead would come back for it.
The skull became more than just a graphic.
It became part of the attitude behind the T-shirt.
A little dark.
A little rebellious.
But still fun.
And most importantly — unmistakably Secret Basement.

On the back of every T-shirt is our slogan:

This is at the heart of Secret Basement.
Cold — because that's where it all starts.
Bold — because we don't want to create ordinary flavours or follow what everyone else is doing.
Unstoppable — because we're building something, learning every day, experimenting, improving and continuing to move forward.
It's simple.
And we wanted the back of the T-shirt to be just as recognisable as the front.
Designed to Be Worn Beyond the Shop
This was probably the most important part of the process.
We kept asking ourselves one question:
Would someone actually wear this when they're not working?
If the answer was no, we weren't interested.
We wanted something that could work as a staff T-shirt but also look like genuine streetwear.
Something you could wear with jeans.
Something you could wear around Singapore.
Something that looks good in the shop — but also looks even better outside it.
Because every time someone wears it, they become part of the Secret Basement story.
More Than Just a T-Shirt
For us, this T-shirt represents something bigger.
Secret Basement Gelato is still growing.
We're experimenting.
We're learning.
We're making mistakes.
We're improving.
And hopefully, we're building something that people genuinely want to be part of.
Our team is a huge part of that.
So when someone joins Secret Basement, we don't want them to feel like they're simply putting on a uniform before starting their shift.
We want them to feel like they're representing something.
A brand.

A team.
A little underground world built around an obsession with great gelato.
And if they walk out somewhere wearing the T-shirt and someone stops them to ask:
